How to better clean it?

When conducting quantitative analysis experiments, even a small amount of impurities will affect the accuracy of the experiment. At this time, the volumetric instrument can be cleaned with lotion, which is a kind of potassium dichromate saturated solution in concentrated sulfuric acid. 5g of crude potassium dichromate is dissolved in 10mL of hot water, cooled slightly, and slowly added to 100mL of concentrated sulfuric acid under stirring to obtain chromic acid lotion, referred to as lotion.

The lotion has a strong decontamination ability. Add lotion to the container during washing, the amount of which is 1/3 of the total volume of the container, then tilt the container and slowly rotate the container to make the inner wall of the container wet with the lotion, and then pour the lotion into the original bottle, and then wash off the lotion with water. If the container is soaked for a period of time with lotion or heated for use, the effect will be better.

Pay attention to the following points when using lotion:

① Wash the container with water or decontamination powder before using the lotion.
② Before using the lotion, try to remove the water in the container to avoid diluting the lotion.
③ The lotion should be poured into the original bottle after use and can be reused.
④ Do not use lotion to wash reductive dirt (such as certain organic matter), these substances can reduce the potassium dichromate in the lotion to chromium sulfate (the color of the lotion changes from the original dark brown to green ). The lotion that has turned green can no longer be used.
⑤ The lotion is very corrosive and will burn the skin and damage the clothes. If you accidentally spill the lotion on your skin, clothing, or laboratory table, you should rinse with water immediately.
⑥ As potassium dichromate seriously pollutes the environment, the lotion should be used as little as possible. The container after washing with the above method should also be washed with water to remove the detergent. And wash three more times with distilled water.

The container should be washed in small quantities (use a small amount of detergent each time) many times. It saves money and improves efficiency. Wiping the cleaned container with cloth or paper will not make the container clean, but will leave the fiber on the wall and contaminate the container.

There should be no insoluble matter or oil stains attached to the wall of the container that has been washed. When checking whether it is cleaned, turn the container upside down, and the water will flow down the wall, leaving only a thin and uniform water film on the wall, without water droplets.
